Choosing the Right Foods


OBJECTIVE
       - This lesson will enable the student to compare food labels and determine which food would be the healthiest choice.

TASKS
       - Read the article "How to Compare Food Labels".
       - Go to the "Nourish Interactive Web Page" and scroll the computer mouse over the label to review its contents.  Then click on the green "START" button to
         play the "Comparing Foods" game.
       - Watch the videoes on comparing food labels in the "The Food Label and You" and "Are You Smarter Than A Food Label" sections below and participate in the
         class discussion questions that follow.       
       - Find 5 different food labels from the online food label database and compare their nutrients.  Rank them in order of healthiest to least healthiest (1 being the
         healthiest and 5 being the least healthy) and provide a reasoning for your rankings.

Play along with the contestant on the game show.  The video will be paused after each question.  Before the video will resume, the class will discuss which answer they believe to be correct.
