Nutrients


OBJECTIVE
       - This lesson will enable the student to understand the significance of each nutrient listed on the food label.  The student will also learn how each nutrient affects
          the human body.

TASKS
       - Watch the video below to review "How to Follow a Healthy Diet by Reading Nutrition Labels" and participate in the class discussion questions that follow.      
       - Analyze the Color Coded Nutrient Image below: note which ones are "good" and which ones are "bad".  In other words, what nutrients do you want a lot of in
         your diet and which ones you want to limit.
       - Examine the Extended Nutrient List image and participate in the class discussion questions underneath the image.
       - Read the Nutrient Articles below to learn about all of the nutrients that are found in food and then complete the Nutrient Facts Outline.
       - Create a concept map with the free site bubbl.us by using the all of the words in the word list and two of your own examples of foods that contain a significant
         source of each nutrient.  An Example Concept Map and the Word List are below.
